The Mirror Lies: Seeing Yourself Through a New Lens

Updated: Dec 15, 2024

Every morning, we stand in front of the mirror. It’s automatic, right? Brushing teeth, fixing hair, catching a glimpse of our reflection as we rush to start the day. And if we’re honest, most of us don’t love what we see. We don’t stop to appreciate the little things that make us who we are. Instead, we zoom in on the imperfections—wrinkles, stretch marks, curves that don’t fit the “perfect” mold. The mirror becomes this warped reflection of everything we think we lack.

But what if the mirror’s been lying to you all along?

This is something I’ve learned in the most incredible way. When someone steps into my studio for a boudoir session, they often carry those lies with them. It’s in their nervous smile, the way they wrap themselves in a robe like armor, the little jokes they make about their body before we’ve even begun. And I get it. I’ve been there, too.

But then something beautiful happens.

During the session, they start to let go. It’s in the way their posture shifts, their laugh becomes louder, their smile comes easier. It’s not just about taking off clothes—it’s about peeling away those layers of self-doubt and fear. It’s like I’m watching them see themselves for the first time, even before I’ve shown them a single photo.

And when I do show them? The moment they see their images, it’s almost always the same. A gasp, maybe tears, and this look I can only describe as awe. They’ll say, “Is that me?” like they can’t believe the truth staring back at them.

But here’s the thing: it’s not the camera or the lighting or anything I’ve done. It’s them. It’s the person they’ve been all along, hidden beneath the noise of the world, the expectations, the lies the mirror told them.

Boudoir isn’t about changing who you are—it’s about showing you the version of yourself that’s already there. The one who’s fierce, soft, bold, and completely, undeniably worthy.

I’m not here to tell you to book a session. That’s not what this is about. This is about you taking a moment to step back and question what you’ve been believing about yourself. What stories have you been told? What stories are you telling yourself?

Because I promise you, there’s a version of you waiting to be seen—and she’s breathtaking.

XOXOXO,

Tiffany
